Abstract This article proposes to look back onto the Black Canadian works produced around turn of twenty-first century establish some decolonial practices they promoted, arguing that remain pivotal in decentering colonial gaze this day is at root anti-Black hatred. In face continued structural violence and racism preeminent across Canada date, it attempts unpack purpose means deployed their early texts by two pioneer women writers, Djanet Sears M. NourbeSe Philip, decolonize African cultural memory from diaspora teaching us value legacies outside Eurocentric standards.
